How to enable Central Gaia Management from SmartConsole ?

From the 80.20 Admin Guide

"Managing Gaia in SmartConsole

After enabling Central management, Gaia gateways can be more effectively managed through SmartConsole."

Can anybody give me a hint for enabling Central Management ?

Did you create a gateway object and push policy to it from management? Then you've already enabled central management.

Hi Daemon, I thought it was something like sk93969, but unfortunately not.

Andreas,

in R77.xx this is enabled via global properties => SmartDasboard Customizations => central device management.

Description of this feature can be found here Central Device Management for R77 versions Security Gateways running on Gaia OS

I'm not sure, but I think this feature isn't supported on R80.20.

Maybee someone here can give a statement to this?

Would be nice to set routes from Smartconsole....

Some of the features in that SK are available in R80.x SmartConsole without specifically enabling anything:

1. System Backup/Restore
2. Run a script
3. Open an SSH Session
4. Open the Gaia WebUI

The other features aren't present, but I imagine they will be soon and you can put a script to effect the changes in the meantime.

Hi all

Coming back to this topic after a while....

In the R81.20 Gaia Administration Guide there is still the text: "After enabling Central management, Gaia Security Gateways can be more effectively managed through SmartConsole"

In addition:

  • Centrally configure device settings for these network services:
    • DNS
    • NTP
    • Proxy server

But it is still not explained, where to find the enable switch to have that feature.

I know that I can set Proxy Server, but where are the other settings?

Or does this have something to do with cloning groups on the gateways? Is it in any way possible to configure more of the OS in SmartConsole for regular Gateways/Clusters (similar to VSX)?

thanks
daniel

Apart from switching it on (that is not needed) i find most of that explained on the page: https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/R81.20/WebAdminGuides/EN/CP_R81.20_Gaia_AdminGuide/Content/Topi...

Still Global Properties has some finetuning available:

Exactly. That is the place where they say "After enabling Central management ..." and where I got my list of "Centrally configure device settings" from. You're right, it is "explained" (lets say mentioned) there.

So even if I do not need to switch it on: Where do I set "NTP and DNS"? I can really not find it and I wonder if it depends on the configuration of the GW.

I believe the only place you can set these from SmartConsole is by using SmartProvisioning profiles.
