Migrating from one CP to another one

Hello all,

We are migrating from Checkpoint 5600 to Checkpoint 6600. I want to export the configuration file for the network interfaces from CP 5600 and then import it into CP 6600. Could you please provide me with some guidance on how to do this?

The simplest way is taking the output of show interfaces from one system and putting it on the other (assuming you’re just talking NIC settings).
Or “show configuration” to do all the various OS settings.

I just want to transfer the configuration file from one to another.

Use "save configuration <filename>" on your source GW to save OS configuration settings to a file. Copy out the file and go over it, primarily to check that interface names are the same as on the new appliance. If it is not the case, you will have to edit the interface names to use naming convention of your new appliance.

Finally, copy the file to the freshly installed new appliance and perform the following:

HostName> set clienv on-failure continue
HostName> load configuration <filename>
HostName> set clienv on-failure stop
HostName> save config
