Issue accessing smartview
Hey guys,
Not sure how and why this issue happened, since its been working fine, but today when I wanted to test something with smart view, it gives me below message:
HTTP ERROR 503
Problem accessing /smartview. Reason:
Service Unavailable
I even copied httpd2 from /web/conf and smartview file from /web/conf/extra dir from working lab mgmt to this one, rebooted, but no joy.
Its R81.20 jumbo 98. For what is worth, smart console loads fine, no issues and even web version is okay, but on the browser, if I click on logs tab, gives exact same error.
Any way how to fix this?
Best,
Andy

Hey @Amir_Senn
Here was an easy fix 🙂
-built brand new R82 clean mgmt
-exported config from existing one using migrate server
-installed jumbo 12 on new one and imported the config
-rebooted new server, logged into smart console, installed policy and database, boom, all works, along with smartview!
Thanks a lot again!

No need for reboot anyway, you can use $RTDIR/scripts/startSmartView ; $RTDIR/scripts/stopSmartView ;
This process restart is very quick and take significantly less time.
I would suggest checking GUI client. I think it shows the same message.
Also, might be related to some logging processes, so I suggest looking for coredumps or crashes in "cpwd_admin list".
You can also try to use "SmartEventCollectLogs" and look at output logs if you see anything suspicious.

Hey @Amir_Senn
Tx a lot man, always appreciate your help! Just tried that, but no luck : - (
But, here is what I would like to try, somehting little unrelated. Since I have so many things in this lab and would hate to rebuild it, Im attemption to install jumbo 99 on the mgmt, but because of lack of space and the fact that I cant "extend" eve ng image without rebuilding it completelly, Im trying to remove jumbo 98 and reboot, but it gives me below attached error, it complains about the mentioned hotfix, but I cant find that fix anywhere.
Any thoughts?

Try running "autoupdatercli revert-completely CloudGuard_Controller"

Yep, tried that in the meantime, but though command worked, it complained again when uninstalling that some other package was missing.

Honestly Amir, I would not bother man. Its not a huge deal, its just my lab anyway. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong, but it would not surprise me if I deleted the wrong package in the past to free up some space. I will let you know if R82 mgmt upgrade does anything 🙂

If it automatically installs this package and reproduces on other environments it could cause issues for reverts. I will try to catch this before T99 becomes recommended. If this is only on your env I wouldn't worry.

Upgrade is almost done and I see smartview does open, but auth fails, could be because the whole process is not finished yet, but definitely looks better. Will confirm once fully upgraded.

Just upgrading my mgmt to R82, will see if that does anything. Figured maybe thats not a bad idea, since we have few S1C customers that are on that version anyway, at least management, no one for fw's yet. I want to see how performance is.
Will let you know the outcome 🙂
Tx again!

Hey @Amir_Senn
Thanks a lot man for your help on this. I ended up upgrading mgmt server only to R82 jumbo 12, rebooted, installed database on it, along with dedicated SE server, all good now, smartview opens, no issues.
Cheers,
Andy

Think I spoke too fast. After another reboot, its exact same issue...no clue why this is not working. I even copied https2.conf and httpd smartview files from working R82 instance, but same problem...

Hey Amir,
I think my goal now that I upgraded mgmt to R82, but isssue is still there is to fix smartview and also, see if I can free up little more in root dir, it went down all the way to 3.2 GB free and I cant sadly extend that partition via lvm_manager in maintenance mode, since there is no unallocated space left. If you have any suggestions, happy to try.
thanks mate!

I would check the size of $FWDIR/log/ directory. Maybe you can empty logs.
Other option is to export and import the DB to a new machine with bigger storage. This also might solve your SmartView issue.

I may try do migrate server option, not sure if that would do anything...

I dont believe migrate server would work from R82 to R81.20, would it?

I don't believe it will. I'm talking more about R82 from current machine to clean installed R82 with more storage. Like migrating appliances, just migrating VMs.

Thanks brother. Just have to step out for a bit, but I will do migrate server to clean R82 later and see what happens. Will update you.
Really appreciate all your efforts on this.
