Failed to receive updates from Check Point Download Center. R82.10 SMS. Trial license

Built a new R82.10 SMS and trying to get updates. Receiving 'Failed to receive updates from Check Point Download Center'. DNS is good. Ping to Checkpoint.com works. I am on the initial Trial license. Do I need a proper Eval or legitimate license?

Is there a place where I can manually download the recommended updates for R82.10 SMS?

100% you need an eval license, then it will work. Just generate one, apply it, no need to restart services or reboot, give it about 15-30 seconds, it will get the updates.

Just for the context, with trial license, you can install policy to the firewall, but you can NOT do any updates, if that makes sense. For those things, you do need a one month eval license.

Thanks. Another issue I am having...

I created 3 evaluation licenses. 1 for the manager, and 1 for each of my 2 firewalls (3 total). During the creation I said they were Central and applied an IP to each license according to the IP of the device they were to be installed on. I put the licenses on all 3 devices via the CLI and they applied no problem. BUT - when I try to push policy to the firewalls it says there is no valid license.

Is that because I should not have applied IPs to the evaluations for the firewalls and loaded them via SmartUpdate instead?

Local license would only apply locally on the fw/management, so you can just generate new one and apply, no need to delete current one.

Hi Andy. Sorry - still dont understand. When I created the licenses I specified the IP for each device.

Just give it an IP that belongs to that device.

As an example, say if cplic print showed IP tied to mgmt interface, 10.10.10.10, then if you wish license to be local, just give that same IP when generating an eval.

Here is the issue I am having. I created 2 evals and gave them the Mgmt IP of each firewall. I tried adding the via the CLI, which worked, but when I push policy I get the following errors:

- Policy installation failed on gateway. There is no valid license for the security gateway. To view existing licenses and add new licenses, use Licensing tab in Gateways & Servers (see sk11054).

Not sure what I am doing wrong.
- Policy installation failed on gateway. If the problem persists contact Check Point support (Error code: 0-1-2000080).
- Policy installation failed. Security Gateway not installed

If I remove the licences and reboot the firewalls I am able to push policy

Just noticed that 26MAR2026 date. Not sure why that is there. I generated the evals on Jan26. Assume they are 30 days?

Just did remote with Jeff, we put local eval licences on CP lab gateway, all good now, policy worked, all shows green.
