Emergendisk USB won-t boot up appliance
Hello, this customer lost the admin password of a Smart-1 appliance, I read about the Emegernedisk utility so created the a USB using it on a different appliance from which the customer does have the admin and expert password, but the Smart-1 appliance just won-t bootup from it.
Am I missing something here or is it the USB might not be a supported one? Instructions in the Gaia Admin Guide do not have much of a detail.
Regards

I was informed previously by Maarten Sjouw that you can use sk106490 too if you have a valid SIC. This way you can remotely reset the password from the management server.

I don't think this will work here as the Smart-1 most of the time IS the management.
@Sergio Keep in mind that a Smart-1 needs a different boot disc than a normal appliance, so you need to create the boot disk on another Smart-1 preferably same model.

Whoops...somehow I've missed the Smart-1 reference in the original question.

Especially if it's a newer Smart-1 model, which needs a different kernel to boot.

Thanks a lot. I believe I have another of those appliances at the office, will try creating the bootable USB with it.
