hello what needs to be done in order to patch our gateways or SMS for this SolarWinds security breach?

Do the checkpoint threat prevention blades automatically receive the updates? Is any other intervention required on my part?

Checkpoint released protections on IPS - sk170918.

Checkpoint IPS update automatically. Just in case, you could check update status of IPS blade and protections are prevent in IPS Protections section.
