Sync Redundancy in ClusterXL with MDPS

Hi,

Setting up a new cluster with 19200-appliances running 81.20 take98 with "Management Data Plane Separation (MDPS)". These appliances has two sync-interfaces and seem to be best practice to create a bond if you want to have Sync Redundancy but there is one problem here. One Synch-interface (Synch) is shown i Mplane and the other synch-interface (Synch2) is shown i Dplane.

Why?

Management Data Plane Separation (MDPS) and Sync Redundancy in ClusterXL using bond-interface not supportet?

Regards,

Anders

What was your order of operations, is the bond configured / present before enabling mdps?

Hi,
The bond was not configured since before no. MDPS was implemented from start. The gateways has not yet been completely set up yet.

So first the firts-time wizard was completed (set of MGMT, Synch, NTP, DNS -ip:s was set), then upgraded to take98 (R81.20) then configuration of MDPS was done.

If you follow the configuration procedure per sk138672 and continue to have difficulty please reach out to TAC.

For what is worth, this is what AI says...

Andy

1. M-plane (Management Plane)

  • Handles configuration, fault, and performance management.

  • If a Synch interface is shown here (Synch), it's typically used for:

    • Synchronization of configuration data

    • Managing software updates

    • Interfacing with centralized management systems (like EMS/NMS)

    • It might be logical or virtual

2. D-plane (Data Plane)

  • Handles user traffic and real-time data processing.

  • If Synch2 appears here, it may:

    • Be used for time synchronization (e.g., PTP, SyncE) between nodes or base stations

    • Be a physical interface connected to a synchronization source (like GNSS, boundary clock, etc.)

Please stop posting these unless you've personally validated them as fact.

I for one would hate for the AI to start believing its own terrible insights/answers.

You are 100% right, I find most of those AI answers now are not super useful.
