Monitoring ip reachability for isp redundancy like

Hi

I can't use isp redundancy because i need to use pbr and possibly another features that can't work with it.

I wonder if the monitoring ip reachability of static routes can help with that.

Like to configure default route with two gw's. Higher priority gw will have monitored ip's by icmp. That will be routed through this gw. And if monitored ip not reachable through this gw. Than gw will be deleted from kernel. And lower priority gw will be injected to kernel routes.

Im not sure is this is possible. When i configured that. I saw the monitored ip's icmp test not being routed through the gw it was configured on. But through the active dg. So maybe it's not the intention of this feature.

Would love to know if there is a way to implement it.

Thx

Did you try static / manually routing the destination of your icmp test via the correct interface / next-hop?

For example this should be fine if it's the corresponding ISP's DNS server.

yes it's working great this way.  thank you

i originally thought that if i configure monitored ip under specific gw that it should go over this gw, but i was wrong.
