Get Interfaces with topology

Hi Mates,

I want to create a new vlan on the cluster. After creating via cli or webui, how can I add it on smartconsole. I know that there is option get interfaces with topology or without topology. But I dont want to affect other interfaces. So many times I heard that dont do get interfaces with topology in production.  There is also another option add interface manually, but I want to know, How is the best way?

On initial setup, using Get Interfaces with Topology is fine.
Once you have a gateway in production, it's generally advisable to not use this option.

Knowledge articles such as sk57100 also recommend 'Get Interfaces Without Topology'

Sorry for picking up an old post, but what about when you have multiple interfaces that they update their topology automatically(based on routing)? This happened to me a few days ago as I kept using the WITHOUT option and networks weren't being added into the network group object under the interface. I had to add them manually thru the mgmt_cli API.

Perhaps a new thread would be advisable here to describe the use case in more detail and discuss a solution?

and now to something completely different - CCVS, CCAS, CCTE, CCCS, CCSM elite

Just choose route option, its recommended anyway. But as Vince said, better start new post.

What @PhoneBoy said is EXACTLY what literally every customer would suggest. Get interface with topology will "reset" everything to default and that is NOT what you want, when firewall is in production, so I would suggest to always do "without topology". Hope that helps.
