Active PNOTEs: LPRB on Cluster Members

Dear Team,

We have cluster members (FW1 and FW2) which was lactated in different location from the Mangement Server.

Previously "FW1: Active" and "FW2: standby"

Currently "FW2: Active" and "FW1: Not showing"

Today we have observed that the Active PNOTES: LPRB in one of the members.

When I checked some basic commands like in FW2

- cphaprob stat- FW2 data only showing

-cphaprob -a if - All interfaces are UP

-cphaprob -ia list- Active PNOTEs: LPRB

-cphaprob syncstat - Sync Status: OK

I have attached the screenshots for reference.

- What is meant by Local Probing?

- Why FW1 data is missing?

What are the basic troubleshooting steps we need to perform?

Currently I don't have access to FW1 to check the data.

Kindly assist me.

Rgards,

Saranya

1) Make sure clustering is enabled in cpconfig

2) You need to install a working policy with the cluster object properly defined to the gateway(s) for HA to function.  defaultfilter will not cut it.

Hi @Saranya_0305

Check the /var/log/messages -> grep for "probing" and check which inteface has issue.

Generally a probing problem means at least one of the following is present:

1) The cluster members cannot see each other through their corresponding interfaces (such as if they are not on the same VLAN), although I think usually the interface would show as Down in that scenario.

2) The cluster members cannot see at least one other IP and/or MAC address on the network with them; this could indicate they are on an incorrect isolated VLAN that can't go anywhere.  Common issue in isolated lab environments which can be rectified by adding a switch management IP on that VLAN.

I would definitely start by what @AkosBakos said...just run following -> grep -i probing /var/log/messages*

Dear Team,

OS version : R81.10

I have collected the data from the FW1

All process and daemons are up&running.

Defaultfilter BLOCKS everything, you cant even web UI on port 443 if I recall last time someone had that issue. As @Timothy_Hall advised, make sure clustering is enabled and also you can install regular policy.
