Other configuration software

Hello Experts,

I recently purchased a checkpoint 1530 quantum spark for my company. Is there any other configuration console from my windows machine that will give me more configurations than the HTML version? I've been reading a lot of posts and i've seen the use the cloud version  but this requires a subscription and an online connection.

Thanks

For a self-managed 1530, no.
If you buy a Security Management server, you can use SmartConsole to do some different configuration.

Note the license includes the SMP cloud management (Web based).

Is Cloud or the subscription the sticking point or both?

SMP cloud management is good for many groups of SMB units when these are deployed on a large scale. To manage one unit instead of using local management makes not much sense i fear...

Both if its a single unit. I can't seem to justify to other clients when they purchase these series to sell them a cloud service. I can see it useful for managing multiple gateways approach. I'm coming from a cisco ASDM mind set. The HTML local has just enough configurations for most installs that I will do. The reason I'm asking for another software is so i can fine tune the VPN client of. IE switching to AES-128 or even 3des in low bandwidth modes . Reading a lot of post of folks pushing policies from the cloud to accomplish this.

The current Quantum Spark appliances include SMP (cloud) management for free, so it's not exactly an extra cost.
Having a local management server is, in fact, an extra cost.

Without an online connection Internet is not much fun at all 😎 Quantum Spark is just that - plug in and go, not much configuration needed. "More configurations" sound like you are expecting too much...

Yes ...me and my Cisco ASDM mind set I fear. I'm sure I can get whatever I want done via SSH console, just have to ask a question. I love what this company has brought in terms of support in a forum.
