migrate_server import fails from R81.10 to R81.20

Hello,

While importing SMS from R81.10 to R81.20 together with logs (-x option)

./migrate_server export -skip_upgrade_tools_check -v R81.20 -x <Path and Name of the Export TGZ file>

we get the following error:

"Importing the Management Database

Operation started at ...

Failed to import

Operation finished at .. "(about 1min:45s later)

Export from R81.10 was done by newest ngm_upgrade_wrapper_997000697.tgz There are no domains - it's a single Smart Management Server.

Below is a piece of cpm.elg screenshot

cpm_elg.jpg

Error: "failed to stop log exporter or , to update its configurations ..." repeats few times in that log.

By the way, there is no /opt/CPshrd-R81/log/migrate-2023.08.25_X.Y.Z.log as they say in Quantum Security Management R81 Administration Guide - Command Line Reference > migrate_server following excerpt:

"If this command fails, it creates this log file:

$CPDIR/log/migrate-<YYYY.MM.DD_HH.MM.SS>.log

For example: /opt/CPshrd-R81/log/migrate-2020.06.14_11.21.39.log"

Any ideas what's wrong with this import?

did you try to make some pre-reqs like:

1. df -ahl on the SMS?

2. hcp -r all ?

think about the above before running the migrate_xxxxxx

install CCC and see what is going on, I strongly recommend using the CCC on SMS/GW on regular basis, so far nobody worldwide developed more comprehensive toolbox for us, CP maniacs 🙂

That should be fairly straight forward, specially since its R81.10 to R81.20. I also saw bunch of messages related to log exporter as well...its possible does not like something about that. Are you able to get rid of log exporter config on R81.10, try migrate_server again to see if it makes difference and if that works, then you can put back the config after on R81.20?

Just a suggestion...

Andy
