I have an R77.30 Log server which is due for upgrade for R80.20. It is an open server on ESXi Vmware.
The upgrade volume is too small to take a snapshot.
a) How can I increase the "upgrade volume" size
b) Is it automatically calculated as I cannot actually see an upgrade volume
c) I imagine this is going to prevent me from performing a major version upgrade to R80.20?
I can't currently replicate this as all other customer servers and my lab server have an upgrade volume larger than lv_current. If I simply add disk will this resolve itself? It may be in this state due to multiple upgrades over the years. My last resort is fresh install, but it's difficult because the box is remote.

Thanks for link.
Am happy to add disk. I just don't know if that is only going to add to the free space or if it will also be increasing my "upgrade volume" too. (I don't understand why/how my upgrade volume is so tiny 🙂)
Perhaps this could help:
If I owned the VM system, I would definitely just do a new install. However the VM is owned by a customer, and the whole environment is remote to us (an MSSP). I could build a parallel log server, but don't really want the pain/delay of new IP addressing, NATs, firewall rules, change boards etc.
Maarten,
Thankyou. that's a great approach. I think I will try that with the customer.
I like the way you think !
Cheers, Paul
I would recommend clean install and log migration, as already suggested here
