We have lost the machine where the smartconsole was installed
Is there a possibility to recover something from the gateway?
SmartConsole is installed on a Win client - usually, the SMS IP is saved here, and diverse things are cached in C:\Program Files (x86)\CheckPoint\SmartConsole\R7x.xx\PROGRAM\data\CPMICache\ <machine name> when using a version before R80.x0, as now all is saved in a relational database instead of *.C files. But no credentials have ever been saved here...
Yes. The smartconsole was installed in VM win. The win's HD is broken and we need recover the information to new Smart console. Is posible from the gateway where the firewall was installed??
Thank you in advance
You do confuse me - if the SMS was in a VM and the VMs hardware is defective, you have to use backup or migrate export from the SMS. The GW only has the current compiled policy, not more. So from a GW you can get no information that has been saved in the management database.
For versions <= R77.30, a cpinfo opened with InfoView will present all data from SmartConsole so you can e.g. do screenshots to document the config and rebuild later. But on R80.x0, you always need a migrate export...
Ok. Günther , we'll do it.
Thank you for your answer
Regards
I think yo are referring to Security Management Server and not SmartConsole, which is GUI client to connect to Security Management Server.
Depending on your software version in use, some limited details can be recovered from your GWs.
In any case, you will not be able to restore the full functionality without some painful and hard work. The best is to ask Check Point local representative to asses the amount of efforts required and to order appropriate Professional Services assistance.
In the future, please make sure your critical systems are properly backed up
