Expand Disk

Hi together,

we have a Smart 5050. I would like to replace the 4 TB disks running in RAID 10 with 8 TB disks. Can I expand the volume without deleting all the data?

Replacing the disks with those other than ones sold by Check Point for this platform is unsupported.

let's say it's a theoretical question. Can I expand a volume without deleting the data?

You can try lvm_manager, which is built in. Just run ./lvm_manager from expert mode and follow the prompts. I would strongly recommend you do snapshot/backup prior to doing this. Now, thats ONLY for extending the partition. As @Chris_Atkinson , using disks other than CP ones is not supported...does it work, yes, it does, I had seen people do it, but if it breaks, you are on your own. So, thats a risk you take...

Best way to do this the same procedure for changing appliance or advanced upgrade. You can export the DB + index and logs and import them to the machine after you re-built the RAID.
