Are you talking about a physical server running RH7? If yes, you will have to reinstall it with Gaia OS, which is a modified hardened version of Linux, based on the 3.10 kernel. Before installation, you need to make sure your HW is listed in the Hardware Compatibility List under Open Servers.

If you are planning to run your Management Server as a virtual machine, the same link will give you the compatibility requirements, under the "Virtual Machines" category.

Correct, you will have to re-image the box with Gaia. However, you mentioned R80.40, which will be out of support in April this year. Please consider installing our recommended version, R81.20, instead.

Thanks for your response .

yes we have physical server and red hat 7.x instated on it. so we need to remove linux os from that server and make bootable pendrive with gaia r80.40 and install direct on that server with according to compatibility listed on that open server list.

It's not possible, they're both full operating systems. So you'd replace Red Hat with Gaia OS. It's basically the same as asking if it's possible to install Windows on top of Windows, if that makes it more clear.

Gaia is a full OS, you cannot install one OS on top of another.

Hi _Val_ Thanks for you response. Now we going for Gaia as a base os on that server ( HP ProLiant DL380 G7) with R 80.40. but when i'm checking the compatibility sheet it showing for this model Mac sms GAIA is R80.30 so we can't install R80.40 on this server. FYI previously its is working on R80.40 may be it upgraded from R80.30 to R80.40 later but my query is can we install r80.40 direct on this server. attaching ss for your reference

Correct, G7 is a very old model, and it is no longer supported with any of the Check Point versions available today. You can try installing R80.40 or any later version on that box, but even if you succeed in making it work, you will be running an unsupported configuration.

Yes, if you convert it into KVM server and install SMS on it as a virtual machine, then it should be fine, under the condition you run one of the supported KVM flavors.
