Hi Team,
Good day. Our SMS CMOS Battery is faulty at confirmed deflective by TAC. The RMA CMOS Battery already arrived. We didn't received any respond from checkpoint TAC on how to replace the old cmos or how to properly install it.
May we know if Checkpoint Had a SK/documentation on how to properly preplace the old cmos or how can we properly install the new CMOS Battery on our SMS appliance?
Thank you
What type of hardware is it? Smart-1?
Andy
Yes it's a Smart-1 (SMS).
I looked at below guide, but cant really find anything about it. Maybe you can ask TAC to confirm?
Andy
Though, for what its worth, this is answer by AI about it.

Which management appliance model is it?
How you can get only CMOS battery if such a spare part is not part of any replacement SKU for Smart-1s ? I would expect complete box RMA.
Do I need to open Check Point TAC/RMA case if I can purchase CR2032 battery in any supermarket ?
Parts aside for the moment typically opening the appliance means you break a warranty seal.
Would advise raising an SR so it's on record as to why etc.
I agree with that 100% Chris.
Probably there is no warranty seal on the appliance.
Based on my story, we changed a few times LOM modules in appliance, on the instructions of the TAC.
But stay on the safe side -> ask TAC!
ps.: the Smart-1 are usually DELL HW-s.....
Akos
Thats exactly it...why try save say 100$, and risk lose 1000s later.
Andy
You can get that part probably even in dollar store, but why risk it...
Andy
Officially ask TAC.
Not official:
In a case of small battery local hardware store is your friend. As long as you do not break any warranty seals / screws you should be OK. Sometimes vendors ship a small battery for air transport in a big box. Waste of resources tbh.
I would still ask TAC, agreed.
Usually, parts to be changed inside the appliance come with a new warranty seal to stick on after replacement. But apart from this, warranty is not lost if you are following e.g. the official RAM upgrade procedure or, like here, CMOS battery exchange - but TAC should be able to give you the documented official procedure with all warnings...
Some new sk is out, related to CMOS and Smart-1 5050 appliances:
Error in CMOS and ROMB battery values after iDRAC firmware upgrade on Smart-1 5050
Maybe related, maybe not.
Definitely could be related...
