CCES Training & Exam. is 2 different things !! RANT
Hello Everyone.
So i just took the CCES traning the other day, only to arrive at my Exam today to figure out that my Exam was based on #156-530
and my Traning was based on #156-535..
when i compare the two then i suddenly understand why is was sitting there being hammered with question i had no idea how to answer because i wasnt teached about (i just looked in the training material)
i Take it that i cant be the only one experiencing this? or did i just fall in between a Material & Exam release/update?

Who did sell you the training and exam, and who did book you into PV ? I would ask that person first as this is its fault that you booked the wrong version !

CheckPoint did 🙂
I redeemed CLC.
can now see that the "new" version cant even be booked on Pearson Vue.. its only the old version that is possible to book, but on training site you can actually purchase 2 different versions.
so when navigating to training area and browsing you will see the CCES in the top..
the only "reason" i can see that they have 2 different CCES is if i manually use the search filter and type CCES..
and after that, it would still require me to take good notice on the exam numbers.. << which as customer/partner i dont agree that i should be aware of when Pearson vue only gives the option for 1 exam booking & not two..
I know that this isnt the end of the world and i could propably have passed it if i did some more study but none the less its annoying when i see that i had a 69/70 score and at the exam i had over 10 question marked for Review and wrote down on my paper that i had to go back because those were question that wasnt part of the training so i had to do the "which would be the most logic" kind of approach.

In that case you selected all yourself and do have nobody to blame 8) Surely next time you will know that the exam #156-530 also needs training #156-530.

I see what youre getting at, and i tend to agree.
But when you go to a training "area" to shop. and on top of the site there is CCES... What would make you "check" if they sell more than 1 training of the same "product" so to speak.. so when i book it and i recieve the voucher i go to Pearson Vue and redeem it.. not even the voucher "blocks" the redemption even though you "bought" the exam on Training A & apparantly are booking Exam for B.
This is a very bad customer experience, and in the real world this would cost customers in the long run..
this is a very bad UX design/setup
why do they even sell 2 different CCES and only "sell" 1 exam? How am i supposed to take the Exam for the training that i bought then?
so right now, i paid for training in 156-535, was only able to book an exam in 156-530. so as we speak.. im am unable to attend an exam in what i have specifically been trained in..
I hope that we can at least agreen on this is a bad design on the "shopping experience"..
i honestly would never have though that it would be importnant for me as the customer to double check that when i purchase a training for CCES that i would have to pay attention to a "version number" when i book it.. much less when person Vue doesnt even offer 2 exam and only 1.. what would be the trigger that would make be double check versions?

This is an unintended side-effect of the CLC program - formely, always some person had to do this for you (and it better had to be an experienced one) and also took the risk to sell you the correct exam / training combination. But this never had been intented to be used by a customer without much experience - i work as a CCSP and we also sell CP trainings and PV exams, so i know that this is not intended as an end customer task... I would suggest to talk about this to your local CP SE that even could get your miss-used CLCs back 😉

Hi Skandshus,
I have the material based on #156-530, and I will schedule my exam #156-535, Is it possible to have a good score to pass the exam?
Has much changed? Is there any public document that mentions new functionalities between the 2 documents that can complement the study?
Thanks!

I'd simply expect one of the exams (logic would suggest the older) to have more questions about on-prem EPM deployments and less about features from newer versions...
Others will confirm based on their experience but tread carefully, since sharing specifics is forbidden.

And sadly enough, it’s quite the opposite..
