Centrally Manage Licenses Quantum Spark appliances in Smart-1 Cloud

Hello everyone,

Since ~4 months ago, I was unable to access SmartUpdate on SmartConsole to manage licenses.

"The connection to the Security Management Server <IP address> has been refused because the database could not be opened"

Screenshot 2024-08-28 161429.png

The sk182197 says "SmartUpdate is not supported in Smart-1 Cloud. Use the License tab to manage GW license."

But the License tab  not support for Quantum Spark appliances.

"This action is not supported for Quantum Spark appliances with Gaia Embedded OS"

Which makes some annoying and trouble (need to access Web-UI or CLI to manage license, troubleshoot,...).

Is there any way I can centrally manage licenses on SmartConsole? Please help me answer, I tried to research but still no good.

Thank you so much for that!

Best Regards,

Do Nhat Kha

What if you go to the Dashboard folder and start SmartDistributor.exe manually ? This works very well in my installation. Is the loopbach address 127.0.0.1 really used for SMS head address ?

Hi G_W_Albrecht,

Go to the SmartDashboard in SmartConsole still working fine.

Start SmartDistributor.exe manually doesn't work, because I'm using the Service Identifier or token to access

Connect using Service Identifier:

Noted: This happen since about 4 months ago, before that time I could go to the SmartUpdate in SmartConsole.

I would open SR# with TAC - if you were able to use SmartUpdate with Service Identifier 4 month ago this should still work !

I will check this in smart-1 cloud I have access to, never really paid attention to it before.

l will keep trying, now it got me curious if it can be done...I tested with 100.64.x.x IP that shows up in the mgmt object itself, but that fails too. If I get further, will let you know.

K, so one thing I tested was to log in via normal smart console using token key (rather than IP address, since its cloud), but even then, I tried to open smart update and got exact same error.

If you tried it that way, rather than through the portal itself and still failed, than 100% its not supported. I dont sadly have smb myself to test, but I would definitely give it a go way I mentioned if you had not already.

Hi the_rock,

I'm always using token key or Service Identifier to access Smart Console.

Open Streamed SmartConsole to go SmartUpdate doesn't work either.

Thank you for your help.

Understood. I still have not given up on trying to make it work, but Im afraid if that sk clearly shows its unsupported, thats how it is, for now. No idea if there are plans to change that...maybe @PhoneBoy can comment.

I'm asking around but suspect this is an RFE.

I think so too. I emailed our local SE and he told me the same.

Thanks as always for checking.
