VSX cluster upgrade R77.30 to R80.40 - Hotfix installation

Hello,

one of our customers still has a VSX cluster running on R77.30, that we urgently want to upgrade to R80.40. Since our first try failed, we now would like to do a fresh install using CPUSE. However, I still have a few questions.

1) When would be the right time to install the latest jumbo hotfix?

• directly after first time configuration wizard has run?
• after "vsx_util reconfigure"?
• or should we first upgrade all cluster members to R80.40 and then install jumbo hotfix on all members?

2) I've learned that running "vsx_util reconfigure" has a couple of prerequisites. So management interface needs to be configured and have same IP as before, bond interfaces should be configured before starting the command and ipv6 should be enabled before as well (if needed).
However, VSX admin guide states, that vlans should be configured manually before running the command. This confused me, since I thought this is part of the VSX config stored on the Smartcenter. And how about the sync interface? Should its IP be configured manually or will this be done by vsx_util?

The cluster is  a HA cluster, no VSLS.
