VSX Licensing
Hi CheckMates,
We have a project to implement a VSX Security Gateway on our Network.
1. I would like to ask how does VSX Gateway being licensed in general?
2. Are the additional VSX license additive based on how many VS will be configured?
3. Relation of the VS License to the Gateway Container License?
4. Example we Buy a 16200 Base that supports up to 60VS, and there are add ons of CPSB-VS-25 or CPSB-VS-10 and the requirement is 35VS what VS licenses we need to purchase?
I saw appliances the supports up to X number of VS.

Each VSX Gateway or VSX Cluster Member requires its own license, bound to the VSX Gateway or VSX Cluster Member IP address. Each VSX Gateway or VSX Cluster license covers a predefined number of Virtual Systems (3, 10, 25, and 50) and these licenses are cumulative. The VSX licenses are applied in addition to the Security Gateway license (container and Software Blades).

Hi,
1. You have to have a general licence for the box eg. NGTP and then buy a VSX licence for each member in HA.
2. I think no, there is no additive.
3. VS licence is attached to GW container.
4. You have to buy at least VS-50 to support 35 VS instances.

The license is attached to the gateway and the blade can be enabled on child VS.

Do not forget the Management Licenses for the VSes. As far as I understood this you do not need a Management License for VS0 but for every other VS multiplied by the number of physical gateways. This can become quite a big number.

Depends on the cluster configuration, see sk119075

Yes, you are right. I had HA-Cluster in Mind. Using VSLS you do not have to count backup VSes. But anyhow, in a normal VSX environment you are using quite an amount of management licenses.
