Maestro Madness
We have 2 management servers that are physical machines. Is it possible to utilize the VMware Converter tool to migrate these management servers to a vm with this tool?
Never tried that, but why not use the standard migration tools to copy the configuration?
Physical appliance or open server as there may also be license implications here?
Yes because if it’s a Check Point appliance you are copying from, the licenses are only valid on the specific appliance, not in the VM.
These are open servers, they use the GAIA OS.
Ok, so the licenses won't be an issue.
Like I said, why not use the official migration tools?
I'd recommend setup the management vm directly, then use the check point tool to migrate the setting (assuming it's management server only, not including logs?)
