IPsec - Check Point Question

Hi Checkmates,

I am understand that IPSec is one of the open solution available on every firewall devices.

But i curious about IPSec adoption in the Check Point firewall, because sometimes i found some approach such as route based and domain based IPSec VPN. I have some questions:

  1. What is the advantages or differentiators if I enable IPSec VPN in Check Point instead of in other brand?
  2. Correct me if i am wrong, we can just enable route based VPN if the peers are not Check Point FW? Domain based only available if a peer is Check Point FW?
  3. Can we enable both Domain based and Route based in the single Firewall?

Thank you!

I'd like to say that IPSec is pretty standard stuff now days so it may depend on what's important to you.

In general each type is interoperable with other vendors, yes some times there are issues.

Yes the different types can co-exist and the documentation talks to limitations / which takes precedence.
