Gaia Embedded in hyper-v lab environment
Hello, Dear Checkmates
and Happy upcoming holidays.
Next year we are going to start procurement process to replace our old 4400 appliances.
We consider to buy Quantum Spark 2000 appliances because it technically meets our needs.
But this product line is new for us, so before buying it I want to "taste" it in the lab (as I did with new builds of regular Gaia OS).
Please, could you give me directions how can I set it up in Hyper-v lab environment (I mean install Gaia Embedded on virtual host)?
Is it possible in general? Which tools are suggested to convert .img to .iso?
Thank you in advance!

There is no R81.10.x version available for virtual deployment currently.
If you have Demo Point / Techpoint access that is one method to gain some exposure to it.
Otherwise some limited older images for the former Cloudguard Edge variant on VMware are available via sk161272.

As Chris wrote:
This product is End of Sale as of January, 2024. It will no longer be supported as of December, 2024. For more information, refer to the Support Life Cycle Policy page (section: Quantum Edge).
This article describes all platforms on which Quantum Edge (former CloudGuard Edge) is supported.

I think this reply was probably meant for some other thread. In the "Branch Office Appliances" section, the row for the 2000 says it was launched in 2024-02 and it supports R81.10.
To answer the OP's question, though, there is definitely not a way to run Gaia Embedded in a VM. All the embedded boxes are ARM-based, so it could theoretically run under Hyper-V on an ARM-based Windows system, but it doesn't right now.
At a practical level, the ARM boot process is not even a little standardized. I would be surprised if Check Point's ARM boxes used a boot process which Hyper-V on ARM could handle.

If you intent to buy Spark 2000, you can check with your SE to take a Try&Buy or simply ask for a POC so you can get the hardware and validate any technical points you need to ensure working well with Gaia-embedded.
You can have a look at this SK to see the limitation on Gaia-Embedded : sk178604 - Check Point R81.10.X for 1500, 1600, 1800, 1900, and 2000 appliance Known Limitations
Cheers
