Best practise Linux VPN Connection?

Hello everyone,

what is the best way to enable a Linux computer to dial in via VPN?

The article is from 2022: https://community.checkpoint.com/t5/Security-Gateways/VPN-client-for-Linux/m-p/118830

I would need the best instructions here.

Thank you very much

Rafael

Hi Chris,

Do you have any good documentation for the basic setup in Gaia?

Thanks

Maybe this part?

Debian and Ubuntu Special Configuration

To use EAP authentication on Debian and Ubuntu machines, you must run these commands to install the required plugins before a strongSwan restart:

  • sudo apt-get install libstrongswan-extra-plugins

  • sudo apt-get install libcharon-extra-plugins

Hi,

Looks better, but the connection will fail with the reason: Authentication Failure.

What must be configured on the Gateway? On Windows 11 the connection over PAP and L2TP is running fine.

It can't be much more.

Thanks,

Rafaelo

I'm actually just looking for a good guide that shows me what else I need to set in the gateway. But somehow I can't find this at Strongswan.
