3600 appliance wan ports and ssl vpn

Hello all,

I hope you are well. 

 

I have two questions about 3600 appliance.

 

Firstly,

3600 appliance have 6 RJ-45 ports. May i use these ports as a WAN ports? 

 

Secondly,

Should i have buy a licence for SSL-VPN for 3600 appliance?

- Yes you can use any port for WAN ports, no restrictions on the 6 ports.

- Yes you need a licence if you want to use more than 5 users, check sk84560

In general, you can use any port for any sort of traffic (DMZ, WAN, Internet).
Having said that, there are a couple of exceptions:

  • Ports labeled "management" on some appliances can be used to pass non-management traffic, though this is not recommended due to the NIC drivers used in some appliances.
  • The WAN port on a Quantum Spark appliance can only be used for WAN traffic. Other ports on the device can be used as WAN per: https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk177183
