Is it possible to connect a cluster to the SMP?

Hello together,

We'd like to connect cluster of SMB appliances to the SMP.

Per example a cluster of two 700 appliances.

Is there a way to do it(or a workaround)?

Thanks a lot.

Kind Regards

No, it is not planned as it is impossible - as stated in sk115479, SIC is required for the SMP to trust the gateways. SIC is also required between locally managed cluster members, so this is a collision.

According to SMP documentation, this is not possible - you can find the reason for that in sk115479 Locally Managed Cluster Gateways cannot be managed by SMP ! What you can do is use centrally managed 1400 cluster with SmartLSM / SmartProvisioning.

Günther W. Albrecht‌ Thanks, is it planned to implement this in future?

Yeah, I thought maybe they work at an other option to add cluster(without SIC).

But thanks anyway.

I wouldn't say it's impossible, just that it's not possible now. Smiley Happy

Of course, that is just what i meant - if a new kind if locally managed SMB clustering is developed without SIC use or a new kind of SMP without SIC use this will work 😉

Now, after 4 years, is it possible to connect a cluster SMB R81.10 to the SMP?

Sure, but it's not clear how to do it on the SMB side

This is not applicable to an already configured remote cluster, thanks anyway.

Yes, that is the drawback - you have to take it apart and build from cloud.

I have to do a new cluster setup for a customer in US, in that case I will do this.
