Introducing Quantum SD-WAN Observability: faster troubleshooting, clearer answers, proactive ops

We’ve just released Quantum SD-WAN Observability — a modern, open-garden approach to monitoring and operating SD-WAN, powered by Skyline telemetry.

Why this matters (in real life)

If you’ve ever been in the loop of “users complain → scramble for evidence → guess where the issue is” — Observability is built to break that cycle by:

• Reducing MTTR with a single, consolidated view and fast drilldowns from global health → gateway/link/tunnel/steering object details

• Simplifying RCA by correlating underlay conditions, overlay continuity, and app experience indicators like QoE / MOS in one place

What’s new in this release

Two new dashboards: Underlay + Overlay Health

• Underlay dashboard helps identify issues immediately and drill down per Security Gateway for root cause and corrective action

• Overlay dashboard focuses on VPN tunnel continuity and overlay health scoring (incl. per-gateway and tunnel visibility)

Map View (geographical visibility)
A built-in Map View shows gateways geographically and color-codes status (link status, CPU/RAM, underlay/overlay score). Hover to instantly see key context like tunnel availability, ISP up/down, and link swaps.

Alerts (turn dashboards into proactive monitoring)
Instead of waiting for someone to notice an issue, Grafana alerts can notify you when SD-WAN metrics indicate a problem — e.g., Gateway Down (no telemetry), WAN link down/flapping, QoE/MOS degradation, VPN down while underlay is up, or high CPU/memory. These alerts are customizable, independent of Infinity, and directly linked to the dashboards for immediate correlation and faster RCA. 

Quick architecture snapshot (what’s under the hood)

Quantum SD-WAN gateways export telemetry (link quality, tunnel status, gateway status) into Prometheus using Check Point Skyline, and Grafana renders the Observability dashboards. This stack can run on-prem, in a private cloud, or as Grafana Cloud — same goal, same visibility.

AI Operations and Reporting with Grafana Cloud

When using Grafana cloud you can use their AI assistant to analyze issues correlate between gateways, and frill into the root cause of an issue. Use AI predictions to predict how the  gateway will behave and create predictive alerts before the issue has happened.

Use Grafana reporting capabilities to get Dashboard based reoccurring or one time reports
