We are pleased to announce the extension of Support for the R80.40 software release to allow customers additional flexibility for implementing network security upgrades as part of their operational planning.

The support period for our R80.40 software version (released Jan 2020), has been extended from January 31, 2024 to April 30, 2024.

This applies to Quantum Security Management, Quantum Security Gateways, and CloudGuard Network.

The recommended release is Check Point Quantum Titan R81.20, which is packed with important security enhancements and innovative new features:https://www.checkpoint.com/quantum/unified-cyber-security-platform/

What are the key benefits of upgrading to Quantum Titan R81.20 release?

  • Improved Performance: Experience up to a 3x boost in performance for heavy connections, such as file transfers and database backups, along with a 50% increase in TLS encrypted traffic inspection performance.
  • New AI-powered Security Blades: Access three new AI-powered Security Blades, including DNS Security, Zero-Day Anti-Phishing, and IoT Security, enhancing your security capabilities.  Block 4X more Zero-Day Phishing and 5X more DNS attacks than signature-based technologies.
  • Integrated SD-WAN: Optimize user experience with sub-second recovery for video conferencing applications through integrated SD-WAN functionality.
  • Cloud-powered Management Services: Leverage new cloud-powered management services, such as cloud logging with Horizon Events, detection and response with Horizon XDR/XPR, and automated response playbooks with Horizon PlayBlocks.
  • Continued innovations for Maestro, include new capabilities that increase efficiency, elasticity, and compatibility with public clouds. The new Autoscaling feature for Maestro Hyperscale enables customers to automatically reallocate resources across Security Groups (based on prioritization, CPU utilization, etc.). This brings cloud-like scale and agility to on-premises security (for example, to automatically accommodate traffic spikes during peak traffic). To support high-speed, high-volume transaction environments including high-frequency financial trading, Maestro Fast Forwarding offers ultra high-speed data paths for the highest throughput and lowest latency based on predefined rules.

Enhancing the Gold Standard in Security Management:

  • Quantum R81.20 lets customers leverage the new Management API to integrate security from the ground up and efficiently manage access policies with support for dynamic policy objects taken from external sources.
  • A new workflow now supports policy change management to minimize errors, allowing verification for new policies before they are applied and enforced throughout (“4 Eyes Principle”).
  • By automating VPN connections to public clouds, R81.20 makes it easy to connect Quantum Gateways with data centers hosted in the public cloud.
  • Simplified user authentication with third party SAML Identity Providers now connects to SmartConsole. This enables SSO, MFA, and compliance checks, and complements current third-party Identity Providers.
