Small Business Cybersecurity Requirements

Hello all,

I don't know if my question is "Off Topic", but it was the only selection that I could
see fitting.

Scenario:  A small company is comprised of 3 persons.  There are 3 computers,
and a non-commercial router in the company.  There are no other compute devices.

The majority of the use on each staff person's computer is for emailing and using
that all-important web browser.  Oh yes, data is saved on the local drives of the computers,
as well as on external/portable storage media.  They have nothing in the cloud!!!  It's
a bare-bones operation, in terms of IT.

My question:  What would this company approach Check Point for regarding cybersecurity
resources?  Do you see such a small operation needing anything to provide a secure
environment, beyond what the operating system provides indigenously?   Does Check Point
even provide anything that they could use to enhance their cybersecurity posture?

If my question is too vague, I'll be happy to tack on some additional info.  The purpose of
my question is to get more of a feel for Check Point products and solution offeringd.  I'm
still at the kindergarten level in my education!!!

Many thanks in advance for your response!!!

3 computers? Hm, I could see maybe one of SMB appliances handy in such environment, since you can manage it locally and it does good job at url filtering and app control.

Hello Andy,

Thank you for your response.  When you say "SMB appliance", are you referring to a Check Point
item?  If so, which one?

I tried to warn you in my previous post that I'm at the kindergarten level in the Check Point world!

Hey, I am sending link for something I found in the catalog, but you can browse yourself if customer wants cheaper, but below is an idea and Ialso drew little something (super basic)

If the link does not show you the result, just search for SMB and you can see it all there.

To be honest, I would ask the company to buy a (for eg.) Synology NAS with 2 bays 🙂 only for the safety of data.

Do the endpoints have some kind of endpoint protection? The smallest Harmony bundle is 3 or 5 devices, so think about it.

Is a Synology NAS a part of the Check Point product line?

Check Point does not participate in the NAS space.
Having said that, some sort of external storage for at least backup purposes is a good idea.

Thanks PhoneBoy for your response!

I only asked about the Synology NAS because AkosBakos mentioned it in his response to
my initial query.  I'm still at the kindergarten level with knowing what's in the Check Point
space!  I'll eventually graduate to the First Grade 🙂

Quantum Spark appliances are a thing, but you'll probably get more bang for the buck by going with ZoneAlarm Extreme Security NextGen.
This is the consumer version of Harmony Endpoint.

I agree with this. Something installed on the endpoint will increase security immensely.

You could combine it with the previous stated SMB unit. But someone needs to manage it and keep it up to date also if there is an issue troubleshoot.
