log management server leaves stale sessions on manager

We have a TAC case open, but someone here might know

We found an error in our logs on the management server that said we had more than 100 sessions

Looking at the session table, almost all of them are connections from our dedicated log server. It keeps spawining sessions that don't expire.

Any ideas?

What platform is your dedicated log server? I see couple lines mentioning smart event...if so, have you tried evstop; evstart on it?

The log server is an open server running 81.10. Smart Event is on a different box running the same code, but the smartevent logins are not causing the issue

Gotcha. Have you tried cpstop; cpstart or reboot on the actual log server itself?

we did a stop start. No joy. Have not done a physical reboot yet

10-4. Honestly, if I were you, I would reboot it. If you cant reboot it for now, lets see what TAC suggests next. Not sure in this case there is useful debug you can do, unless there is specific process thats a culprit.

you found the cause for this? We have 1000+ logins from "Remote CPM Server"

not running SmartEvent, but have dedicated CLMs.

I will follow sk113955 but I suspect they will be back momentarily

we have not solved it, although we have reduced it a bit. Our management servers had hostnames that didn't match the object names in smartconsole. We rebuilt the log server and the smartview server and aligned all the names, and number of sessions has reduced.
