Upgrading Smart1-225 from R80.30 to R80.40

Hi. I'm planning on upgrading our Smart1-225 from R80.30 to R80.40 but I'm a little confused about creating a migrate export - I see on sk135172 there is a new tool for upgrading between these versions - do I need to do a migrate export if the same box is being used, and if so, the command on sk135172 is the exact one to use?

Hi,

You don't need to migrate and export. In this case you can update through CPUSE automatically. Just in case, take snapshot and backup before upgrade.

When you do an upgrade using CPUSE, database is exported, a new disk partition is created and database is later imported into this disk partition with the newly installed R80.40, see sk92449: Check Point Upgrade Service Engine (CPUSE) - Gaia Deployment Agent for details - so you will need no tool nor do anything at all 😎

Hi,

If you are using the same box CPUSE is indeed the tool to use.

The CLI commands (migrate_server export/import) should be used mainly when exporting from one server and importing to another server. This method is called 'advanced upgrade'.

Follow sk135172 to make sure the latest upgrade tools of R80.40 are installed (If your Management server connected to Check Point download center the tools are being installed automatically). It is highly recommended to upgrade using the latest upgrade tools package.

Please refer to sk163814 for more information about the new upgrade process.
