Update SmartConsole to new HFA without uninstall

every time when there is a new SmartConsole package you have to uninstall the old one and then install the new one.

Is it possible to update without uninstallation?

No, it always require uninstall/install again, you can backup users settings at least. I have simple spreadsheet like attached..

Or just use the Portable version, you can just replace it.

Hi,

Update SmartConsole without uninstall/install will be available soon for R80.30 and above.

It includes automatic updates in the background (include installation).

Stay tuned.

You can use the portable version as well.

It's 2020 and I have to uninstall 80.40 first (try to upgrade from build  411 to 412)

Someone please write a .bat file that:

• checks for available updates of all installed SmartConsole versions
• saves all session information of the installed SmartConsole versions
• downloads the latest available SmartConsole versions
• uninstalls the installed SmartConsole versions when a new one is available
• remove folders the uninstaller might not have deleted
• installs the new SmartConsole versions
• restores the previously saved session information

Honestly, it shouldn't be necessary. I have applications running that were developed by a single person as a hobby that include built-in auto-update functionality. It shouldn't be all that difficult for Check Point to do the same I would hope 😊

Check Point wrote that they are still working on this while they showed in 2019 that they already have a working internal build.

It's our power as a community to fill such gaps because we are faster than the vendor as we do not have to pass intense QA and EA checks. So whoever is a clever clogs on Windows batch scripting, please help us. As I mentioned above this would also enable us to update older SmartConsole versions as well.

And just so you know: it’s still under development.
A version was released internally and some feedback was given about it.
Don’t know what the exact status is, maybe @Dima_M does?
