The main GUI client is SmartConsole. SmartEvent and SmartView Monitor GUI clients are still supported in R80, as there are still some capabilities which cannot be done in the SmartConsole. Mainly:

  • SmartEvent - for initial settings (defining the Correlation Unit and Log Servers), Correlation Unit policy, automatic reactions, report scheduling.
  • SmartView Monitor - for tunnels and user monitoring.

To launch these applications go to: SmartConsole GUI client > Logs & Monitor tab > click on + to open a new tab (catalog of views and reports). There you have the links to launch the external apps SmartEvent and SmartView Monitor ("Tunnels & User Monitoring").

Notes:

  • If you have a dedicated SmartEvent server, you can connect with SmartConsole to the management server and see all views in Logs & Monitor tab. All the queries are being forwarded to the SmartEvent server automatically. You can also connect with SmartConsole directly to the SmartEvent server.
  • You can also connect to the SmartEvent server via the web application. Browse to:

https://<SmartEvent_IP>/smartview/

(use the / at the end)

  • To learn more about SmartEvent R80, please refer to the Tutorial guide.
