Hi mates,
Recently I've had an issue with my R80.10 Management. Few months ago, while updating evaluation Endpoint licenses, one of them got stuck and it was impossible to deatach it from SmartUpdate.
Time passed and we noticed that the stuck licenses were multiplying without cause.
This morning I counted 600+ expired Endpoint licenses from diferents dates, with diferents serials.

Deleting all this licenses from SmartUpdate was impossible.

Need to go to CLI and use "cplic print -x" and "cplic del <serial>" to get ride of the problem, as explained on this post.
But I need to create a simple script to get ride of all of them in a more efficient way.
//$1 its a parameter used to filter expiration date on license list ex: "2Dec2018"
for i in `cplic print -x |fgrep $1 | tr -s ' ' | tr "\t" " " | cut -d' ' -f3`
do
`cplic del $i`
done
After deleting all the expired licenses I could return to SmartUpdate and refresh the management license (get licenses) to clean all that mess of expired stuff.
Now the problem its gone, but I'm thinking about the way of solving this.
It was really dangerous to use an script to delete licenses, I'm really afraid to delete the good ones.. ![]()
There is a better way to engage this problem?
I didnt find the cause of this expired license growth, any ideas to analyze it, logfiles to search, etc..?
Thanks for reading and hope this could be usefull to anyone with similar problems.
Hi Lluis,
I can't say that I have seen this problem before. It may be prudent to raise a TAC case for investigations if the issue occurs again to find the underlying cause of the issue.
Regards
Mark
I have never seen anything like this as well.
A customer had this and the the follow-up issue, SmartUpdate crashing because of masses of duplicated licenses - the fix is included in R80.10 JT 167 and higher !
Thanks Günther,
Since i cleaned the duplicated licenses the problem its gone, but i'll plan to install the fix on the management to prevent further license duplications.
Clearing the duplicates will not stopp the issue, as new duplicates are generated without the fix installed - but you at least can open SmartUpdate again...
Have a client right now on R80.20 with 500+ unattached licenses that cannot be removed from SmartUpdate and this, supposedly, causing CPD crashes.
CP is working on the script to remove the duplicate licenses, but no dice so far.
Have seen similar issue in my R80.10 lab.
I suspect that it is related to the way licenses are synced from UC, but have nothing to substantiate this.
I have similar issues with multi domain licenses, the domain blade licenses are often duplicated, I had this already since we moved this MDS server to R80.10 and even attaching a domain license is a challenge itself.
About a year ago I had similar issue not being able to delete them also, but I was able to get the lock off with the aid of GuiDBedit. Don't recall the exact field anymore, but it was a lock that was set there.
Hi Lluis,
A little bit late, but I'd like to refer you to sk136512.
You can contact our support to get a script to clear your data-base from duplicated licenses.
Our customer has used that script, too - but it only did clear the duplicates, but did not stop the duplication process, so the script had to be called a couple of times until the customer received a hotfix (currently included in R80.10 JT 167 and higher as well as R80.20 JT 33 and higher).
HI,
The script is clear the non relevant licenses, but in order to fix the issue you should follow the SK and install the HF.
Ari
That is just what i was explaining 😉
