License guide as PDF

Just wondering - can't seem to find it anymore in PDF format with full list of all license names and descriptions. Just some youtube videos left... Used to be publicly available

Check Point License Guide

What's the score - is it publicly available or we are at the mercy of SE and need to beg it every time we want an answer?

Thanks! but these are "old" Danny - can't use those for ordering Smiley Happy. I'm looking for a list containing for example CPSM-NGSM5 or CPSG-2C-FW licenses

I have to admit that in nearly 10 years of CP support i have never seen a PDF with all licenses names and descriptions since 6/2008. Yes, i read many documents like sk116598 Next Generation Endpoint Security Products Licensing, sk61832 Endpoint Security Licensing for E80, vSEC Central Licensing, sk88240 License Information, sk30857 Licensing Management High Availability configuration Tool and others.  Additional sources include:

sk84560: Check Point VPN License Guide
sk81200: How to Install a License

sk102029: How to Generate an Evaluation License

sk33089: What is a Service Contract File?

and

sk107375: Product Center FAQ

I haven't seen a comprehensive doc like that in a while.

If I have questions, I open up $CPDIR/conf/cp.macro, which usually tells me what I want to know.

Account Services should also be able to help.

That's a shame. As the one that came out in 2012 or 14 was very helpful. Especially when budgeting period came up.. our se is fairly busy man so imo it takes too long to get a simple license answer.

You can also leverage CheckMates for these questions as well. Smiley Happy

As Dameon Welch Abernathy‌ mentioned, ANY info about SKUs is always available in cp.macro file on any Check Point system.

Other than that, I do not recall any other list of SKUs with explanations, except for the price list. The latter requires sales person to assist you.

Thanks guys, that seems to meet some requirements but not all. For example going back to two these licenses CPSM-NGSM5 and CPSG-2C-FW which were suggested by our SE to cover a standalone solution in remote ESX. The second one is not covered by cp.macro. That's my underlying gripe - a fairly simple question: what license(s) would we need for a standalone solution, took couple of days to get response instead of just "opening a catalogue" and reading myself. I'm not fussed about pricing but actual license names/codes. Next one was about MLM container and again we're thumb twiddling.. I understand that pricing won't be published but license description, what's the secret there?

These two:

  • CPSM-NGSM5: Management for up to 5 gateways with most of the blades
  • CPSM-2C-FW: Firewall blade only (two cores)

For a standalone gateway (management + gateway on same VM), you probably only need two or more of: CPSG-VSEC-VEN-BUN-NGTP-1Y.

Fully agree on the latter, on ESX just use the CloudGaurd private cloud licenses (former VE) which you now have to purchase per year.  They go per core. You just need to be aware that they now give you a 50GB disk (instead of the 10GB in R77.30) which can still be to small when do a standalone, so you might want to add some disc for logging and mount it with a symbolic link, or do a full resize of the partition after installing.

Regards, Maarten
