If you press F1 on open SmartConsole, you will get online help. CCSA/CCSE classes as a whole, will help you understand it as well.

The SmartConsole help is extremely rich, context-sensitive, and very much underrated as a source for information.  Of course the CCSA/CCSE training will help along with the formal check Point documentation covering management.

I will also say that there is an independently-produced book currently being written that is not just about the SmartConsole but does cover it heavily.  While the Check Point documentation is excellent, sometimes it can be helpful to look at the Check Point product from a different author's perspective.  I am not directly involved with this new book but have given its author some informal advice; I assume there will be an announcement at CheckMates when the book is released so stay tuned!

I agree with @Art_Zalenekas . You can also google R80 or R81 smart console download and run it in demo mode, great resource. Link he sent you is fantastic help to anyone.

SmartConsole is only the visual control of the CP SW, so you always will see CP GW functionality, network configuration, multiple choices between VPN and all different Blades settings there - parts of the different admin guides apply here.

I think that what you want is a simple step-by-step guide to configure CP SW deployment mainly by using SmartDashboard 😎
