Maestro Madness
Hi There,
We are changing the IP address of one of our Standalone Checkpoint Appliances.
The version is R77.30.
To do this, is it just a matter of just changing the IP address in Gaia portal and the SmartDashboard?
Is there anything else we need to do?
It depends on many factors:
1. Is it a dedicated management interface, which IP you are changing, or is it also an IP of one of the internal interfaces?
2. Is this IP address used anywhere on your network as a gateway?
3. Is it a public or private IP?
4. Do you have any point-to-point VPNs or Remote Clients that are using this IP address?
Take a look at his How to change the IP Address of a Security Management for general guidelines about changing IP of the Management Server.
Hi Vladimir,
Thanks for the response.
1. We need to changing the internal interface. Both management and gateway are installed on same appliance and we have only 1 IP address for the management server and Gateway
2. The IP is not used anywhere else on the network as a gateway
3. It is a private IP
4. We have SSL VPN installed but this uses a different IP address when connected.
Sorry not the same IP address it is only on same device*
Management server and Gateway have different IP addresses but will need to change both addresses.
In sk103356 you can find how to see the registry details concerning IP address - but that should be no problem on StandAlone deployment. You can see in dashboard the IPs used in objects, and as long as you do not change the main/head IP, but only internal IPs, that should work. Please also check the IP used for licensing, as an additional IP change may take time with account services.
Günther W. Albrecht Thank you for your response.
I have looked at the registry and that icaip address is not in the registry. But as you mentioned that should not be a problem on a Standalone Deployment.
Thank you for your help.
Also, Since this is a standalone system I do not need to change the IP address of the License files if I am only changing the Management server IP address?
That just depends on which IP was used as IP for licensing - this StandAlone would be usually equipped with a local license, but as you can decide which IP to use, this may vary ! If you have kept the Registration Confirmation email, you can see the used IP after the "cplic put".
