CMA to SMS migration R77.30

Hi!

I need to split off one domain into separate SMS. Version in question is R77.30. Yes, i am aware this is not supported.

There some good post around creating SMS as secondary to CMA and later promoting it.

However i faintly remember using migrate export under CMA and importing into new SMS couple years back. As far as i know, no issues occured. So i wonder is there some specific problem why it shouldn't be done? Or some specific conditions under which it can or can not be done?

One thing I can say is that you definitely can't do it in R80.x 😁

Certainly you can only do it if there isn't a global policy assigned or global objects in use. There may be other reasons that I leave to the experts to articulate.

Yes, this is a reason why we want to carry out imports/exports split offs on R77.30. Global objects we will cleanup, but other than that can't think of any obvious issues. Maybe some hidden links under the hood.

Both export/import and adding/promoting SMS sounds like a workarounds.
