CHOSEN_CPSETUP_PROFILE and Multi Domain Log Servers

Hey,

We have two physical Multi Domain Log Servers. Quite beefy with 72 cores - 144 HT.

This begs to question the chosen CHOSEN_CPSETUP_PROFILE:

[Expert@server:0]# grep CHOSEN_CPSETUP_PROFILE $MDS_FWDIR/conf/cpmServerSettings.props
CHOSEN_CPSETUP_PROFILE="131072 or larger without SME - MDS"

This profile is also used by our MDS servers.

I wonder if this is optimal when reading the available profiles: $CPDIR/conf/CpSetupInfo_resourceProfiles.conf

Maybe CP forgot to add in MLMs? They are dedicated log servers but handled here like an MDS with little log optimization? The indexing threads, rfl, solr seems with the chosen profile to neglect log handling.

Can someone advice? I have created a SR to diamond, but also writing here to share the finding.

Thanks

Henrik

I will answer my own question 🙂

R82 introduces a MLM filter to correctly optimize solr and indexer threads to a logging environment.

The CpSetupInfo_resourceProfiles.conf file now has a filter to LOG profiles like this:

:filter (
:memory_min (131072)
:mlm (TRUE)
)
correctly assigning these profiles. Furthermore there are several changes across the board - something you could look into if you do not plan to upgrade soon.
