site availability checks in dual site configuration

We are running Maestro dual site environment with VSX in HA (no VSLS). I want to know how exactly the availability checks are working. Maybe ther's a simple answer.... same like with ClusterXL ? Are the same checks running with Maestro:

- sending/receiving CCP packets

- sending/receiving SYNC packets

- checking interface states

- PING probing of gateway and other IPs in local subnets

- monitoring critical processes

VSX HA mode (without VSLS) is actually deprecated in the most current releases.
More precisely, you cannot create an HA cluster (though existing ones will work).

However, I believe the clustering of VSX HA mode is similar to regular ClusterXL (thus monitored a similar way).
