Hi all,
I just wonder if the method of reinsert new ip license (after license interface ip chamge) into the standalone device is same as security management server?
See sk24786: Changing external IP address of stand-alone machine for that step ! I first thought you are just changing license interface ip, not external.
The method i mean is following the link below under "security management server"
Kindly advise.
Thanks
It is rather the same, only easier 😉 Please also check sk24786: Changing external IP address of stand-alone machine
Hi G_W_Albrecht,
Thanks for your kind reply. I will consider it.
Itx exactly the same. Make sure new license is tied to correct IP...I never even had to do cpstop/cpstart to make this work, just open smart update and do get licenses option, install database and thats it.
Andy
Hi the_rock,
If based on your sharing, you are doing these steps as below?
1. change the ip address of the standalone device's license interface
2. open smartupdate, and insert the new license
3. open smartdashboard, change the host ip address (general section), and edit the interface ip (topoogy section)
4. save and install policy to make the changes take effect
Yes, but I would do 3 and then 2 🙂
Andy
Hi The_rock,
I see. Thanks for your feedback.
Hi @the_rock and @G_W_Albrecht ,
I just think about the impact if the IP in the /etc/hosts didn't change. May i know you guys have any idea on this?
Thank you.
I changed it manually last time and worked fine.
Andy
See sk24786: Changing external IP address of stand-alone machine for that step ! I first thought you are just changing license interface ip, not external.
Actually the license ip i mentioned is a production internal ip, not an ip just for license purpose only. Hence, I have such concern (on the /etc/hosts).
I just misclick the accept as solution button on your reply.
I would say regardless if its internal or external, /etc/hosts should reflect that.
Andy
I see. I think I will follow this sk24786: Changing external IP address of stand-alone machine to do the changes. I will come back to you all if any update next week as I required to do this on this coming Sunday.
Thanks for your all feedbacks and patience on my question.
I agree 100%, you should absolutely follow that sk.
Andy
Better click the accept as solution button if all did work out fine...
Sure. Will do.
Hi guys,
I will update on this coming Sunday (28/5/2023) as my license reinsert activity will be done on that day.
Keep us posted...cheers.
Andy
Hi Guys,
Good news here whereby i have done the changes successfully with the SK24786 that shared by @G_W_Albrecht.
Once again, thanks for your all effort and patience on this discussion.
Awesome job! 👍
You should first change the IP in GAiA WebGUI and then load interfaces with topology in Dashboard. Then Install Database on SMS, publish and use SmartUpdate to correct licenses. Policy install as a test if all works is good...
Hi G_W_Albrecht,
I see. thanks for your feedback
Thats good order of things, and it probably matters.
Hope it works, let us know.
Andy
