Isn't R82.10 already considered GA for the new ARM based appliances?

3900 series already have a special release of R82.10 see: https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk183199

Don't believe I've seen the public EA for it yet otherwise which would include the feature additions and support of other appliances.

I just worked with customer that replaced 4 of their firewalls (3 were 3920) and they all came with R81.20.

They're not supported with the earlier kernel so worth double checking that.

I don't think that the Gaia kernel 4.18 used by R81.20 supports ARM, but I could be wrong.

You are right. The kernel version in R82.10 is 5.14

3920s ship with R82.10 - Build 407.  This is to support the 5.14 kernel.

I never really ran uname -a command on one of theirs 3920, since I dont have the access to them myself, but below is output from one of my VMs...

Yeah, way too easy to mix up R81.20 and R82.10, keep doing it in my class lectures and I have to correct myself.  🙂

What is the situation with support? All of the 3900 appliances (based on https://www.checkpoint.com/support-services/support-life-cycle-policy/) only support R82.10, it seems a very odd move to release new hardware that runs an operating system still classified as early availability. Will they get the same priority as R82 and R81.20 for JHF updates? As of today there is only a single JHF (22) for the 3900 appliances (https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk183557).

It could of gone the way of the 3.10 kernel version of R80.30 but actually I believe we will have GA1 and GA2 as a result on this occasion.

Hey Chris,

Just wanted to apologize (as I always do when Im wrong) and I was 100% wrong. As @Timothy_Hall , I totally confused R82.10 with R81.20. I just saw an email from customer and it clearly shows on the screenshot that all 3 3920 fws are on R82.10

Its just the right thing to do! As my mom used to say to my brother and I when we were kids "Dont pretend magic fairy ate the icecream, just admit you did and say you are sorry, thats it" : - )

Yes, new ARM boxes have to run R82.10, but this is still not the case for the main train

Well... From what I heard, it should be earlier than that. We plan to have a TechTalk around this release, so stay tuned.
