Did you check on the discspace available on the machine?
The backup cannot run as there are most probably a big number of old backup files. One of the things you need to do is when you want to do backup's, is build a script that runs the backup and cleans out old files.

Check with the following command  the free disk space under /var/log.

# df -h

If the partition is full, the following solutions are possible:

- delete old  log files under /var/log/
- delete old backup files /var/log/CPbackup
- delete old exported snapshot files /var/log/CPsnapshot
- defete other files under /var/log/ which are no longer needed
- If it is a management server, you can also delete older SMS log files ($FWDIR/log/).

But I would take a backup of all files via winscp first.

What is the size of the backup file?
Keep in mind that the space needed during a backup is around 4 times the size of the backup file.
