Delete old CPViewDB_xxxxxxxx.dat

Hi All,

I have disk space issue on some of our firewall and want to delete some old files.

Can I delete these old .dat file without causing any issue on the firewall. Below are examples

We are on R81.20 but still have for R81.10 and R80.40

1.6G /var/log/opt/CPshrd-R81.20/cpview_services
1.9G /var/log/opt/CPshrd-R81.10/cpview_services
3.9G /var/log/opt/CPshrd-R80.40/cpview_services

For example, under the R80.40, i have below

total 3.9G
-rw-r----- 1 admin root 1.4M Aug 26 2020 CPViewDB_1598430035.dat
-rw-r----- 1 admin root 742M Feb 12 2021 CPViewDB_1613154759.dat
-rw-r----- 1 admin root 896M Sep 2 2021 CPViewDB_1630687429.dat
-rw-r----- 1 admin root 830M Oct 12 2021 CPViewDB_1634117216.dat
-rw-r----- 1 admin root 494M Nov 1 2021 CPViewDB_1635788054.dat
-rw-r----- 1 admin root 935M Jul 15 2022 cpview_services.dat
-rw-r----- 1 admin root 293K Jul 15 2022 cpview_services.dat-journal

Can I remove all these .dat files on R80.40 without any impact to the Firewall.

Thanks for your advice always.

They are OK to remove. If you wish not to go back with cpview -t during that date all is good.

cpview -t <timestamp>

Shows the history content from the /var/log/CPView_history/CPViewDB.dat file.

Shows either the oldest available content, or from a given <timestamp>,
where <timestamp> format is:
[Jan...Dec] [01...31] [4-digit Year] [hh:mm:ss]
