Policy Installation Status

Minor detail, but it appears that in the latest Smart Console builds, the small curved arrows in the Policy Installation window don't rotate anymore. Observed in various versions, different clients and Windows versions.

I must admit that I never really noticed that. Nevertheless, I guessed which icons were meant, and when I pushed a policy in our management today, I thought more along the lines of, "They used to be animated, and I never really noticed that?" 🙂

I only noticed it because I use it as an indicator of when the policy is almost done installing. Normally one of the circles freezes before it moves to "Succeeded".

Since we are currently experiencing a load problem at MDS and I got a timeout, I got creative for a moment.

You could add your own animation with SmartConsole Extension. I started playing around.......

But, on a serious note, I still find it odd this works in web smart console, but not in standalone one. FWIW, its 100% clear issue is with newest build, because I tested one before, no issues, animation is there.

Just tested in the lab, yes, exact same thing, though truth be told, I never noticed that they used to rotate 🙂

I also tried compatibility mode, running smart console app as admin, unchecking accelerated policy option, same issue. Even compared with web smart console, all looks exactly the same, which only logically leads me to conclude this is the actual change in new version of smart console.

Maybe someone from Check Point can confirm.

FWIW, I tested web smart console and indeed, I can see arrows rotation, so most likely something with newest build of standalone Smart Console.

I know this is super minor, but you got me curious to see if there is way to fix it. I will play around in the lab, see how far I get.

Maybe I just got lucky in this case, but here is what I tried and it worked once both times and thats it.

1) tested high contrast theme *ctrl + F3 option, saw animation first time during policy install, not again

2) uninstalled smart console, insalled one from web UI link, tried again, same thing, worked first time, not after that

Hey Alex,

I worked with TAC today on an unrelated case and since this was bugging me as well, and my case was related to the management, I told the guy abouit this post and he did indeed confirm that this rotation thing was removed in latest smart console build, 673. He told me it will be there in R82.10 for sure.
