Hi everyone,

I would like to know if managing endpoint harmony by webportal is more limited than smartendpoint

Thanks

i would say: No, not more limited. Rather the same functionality with different GUIs: The classic Endpoint Dashboard is completed by Logs and Events in other Dashboard views, while in Infinity portal Harmony Endpoint Logs and threat Hunting is combined wit EPS policy and computer management.

But with Cloud Management you get both at once - you can use the EPS Dashboard on a Win10 client for blade configuration the old school way and at the same time use the infinity portal for easy monitoring and other tasks !

Thanks a lot for the answer but, for example, on my smartendpoint connected to onpremise management 80.30 I can set "anti-ransomware maximum backup size on disk" and I can't view that on webmanagement on cloud.

No, that is one point you need the EPS Win10 Dashboard to change from default (for whatever reason). Remember, you always have both options with Harmony Endpoint in the cloud !

ok, but from the manual :"SandBlast Agent does not support all of the SmartEndpoint functionalities. Therefore, when you
manage Endpoint components both through SandBlast Agent and SmartEndpoint, conflicts can arise.
When you do an action in SmartEndpoint that is not supported by SandBlast Agent, the policy display view
in SandBlast Agent changes to the policy display view in SmartEndpoint (backward compatible mode)
"

So I'm worried managing that by smartendpoint, what do you think about that?

Thanks a lot

When the web interface was initially created for SandBlast Agent (now Harmony Endpoint), we focused on providing access to the more advanced Threat Prevention capabilities first.
This means that not everything you can do in SmartEndpoint can be done in the web interface.
Ultimately, the web interface will replace the SmartEndpoint client and we will close the gaps between the two in future releases.

R81.10 will add some additional Endpoint management capabilities to the web interface.
From the R81.10 EA post:

  •   Endpoint Security Web Management enhancements to allow the configuration of:
    •        Media Encryption & Port Protection policy
    •        Firewall policy
    •        Application Control policy
    •        Developer protection policy
  • Push Operation for Host Isolation and Client Uninstall

Meanwhile, you can use one or both as required for your situation.

When in then future there will be new features in web interface, do I have to do something to see that or I will see automatically?

Thanks a lot

Depends on where your Endpoint management is.
If it’s part of our offering in Infinity Portal, you will be upgraded to the latest version at some point and have these features available to you.
If you are using on-premise management, then they will appear when you upgrade to R81.10.
Either way, I suspect there is/will be an EA program you can participate in if you are interested.
