You should be able to retrieve groups from an OpenLDAP server (not that I've tried, but we actually use OpenLDAP under the hood, I believe).
To determine who is at a given IP, we read from either WMI (AD Query, no longer recommended) or the Windows Security Logs (Identity Collector).
OpenLDAP does not have either of those.
If RADIUS Accounting is involved, you might be able to make this work.
Has anyone done this to my knowledge? No.
