Hello;
I work for a Utility. We have Gas and Electric Substations that We would like our SMBs to talk to some of the serial based RTU's at these locations.
We are looking for some better information around the use of the DB9 & RJ45 serial port. (not the console port)
We have the 1200r and 1570r and are evaluating the 1590r.
We have found,
sk166654. “Serial port (DB9 female connector), supports serial protocols RS232, RS422, R485 (SW-configurable) for end point PLC control.”
This seems to be all that Check Point has on the topic. We were able to get an RTU to talk over the serial port but really want to know if Check Point is going to phase out this ability or add to it with more serial ports like some of the competition has.
We have several substations that still have serial based RTU / PLC's and they are not going away anytime soon. Other Utilities are in the same position where they have not crossed over to LAN based RTU's.
We have been working with our Check Point Account Team, but they do not seem to be able to get answers.
Wondering if anyone here has any insight they can share.
Thanks
