CCSM renew

Hi folks!

A question for you about the CCSM renewal procedure.

I've gained the CCSM R80 during 2019, studying on the official "Security Master Student & Lab Manual Rev R80.10 v2" .

The Next year I will need to renew it but apparenlty I haven't found any indication on the Certification FAQ below on how to do it.

https://www.checkpoint.com/downloads/training/check-point-certification-faq.pdf

Could you please help to sort this doubt out?

In case that it would be necessary to pass from scratch the 156-115.80 exam, do the manual "Rev R80.10 v2" remains valid?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Best of all

Massimo

Massimo,

I see your R80 CCSM is valid until November 2021.  We will have an upgrade path early in 2021.  No need to contact Account Services right now.

Contact me if you have any further questions.

If someone was going to expire shortly, we would extend until mid 2021.

Thanks

Tug

@DrEvil - Either option is valid.  However, because we have been updating Specialist exams, the ones you passed previously, are not the exact same exams you took.

In either case, be sure to pass the Specialist before the CCSM Elite expires.

Thanks

Jason

AFAIK, it is not allowed to pass the same exam twice to renew the certification.

@Jason_Tugwell & @shay_solomon, please advise

Just open a ticket with Account Services then as others did before. Your CCSM might then be extended.

Hi,

have a question regarding CCSM as well.
My CCSM will expire in February.

Now as the certification program for CCSM will change, will i lose my CCSM because of not having enough specialized infinity certificades?
Hust have CCME.

If no, when i would pass e.g. CCTA, CCTE and CCVS, would i be CCSM elite automatically when this certification path will go live/active?

Best regards
Vincent

Each Infinity Specialization Accreditation achieved extends the highest active core certification by one year.

Just to clarify, the way I read the above and the link provided, if we take two specialist exams the certification is extended by two years as each certification exam passed extends by 1 year.

Is this correct?

It depends on the scenario in some cases yes in others a new (higher) certification level is achieved, see the examples and the link provided.

Agreed so if I'm an exist CCSM, and pass two specialist exams I become a CCSM Elite, for 2 years, further if I then wish to extended the CCSM Elite I assume taking a further two specialist exams would extend that by another 2 years.

I think you have the right idea, but just to be sure:

  • Existing R80 CCSM (current not expired)  + 1 Specialist = R80 CCSM extended 1 year
  • The next Specialist exam will award the CCSM Elite.  This is a 2-year certification
  • A CCSM Elite + 1 Specialist = 1 year added to the CCSM Elite.  Currently, that was the limit of the extension for the CCSM Elite.

I hope this helps.

Vincent you will not lose your Certification.  You are in a spot where we will work with you as mentioned above.

Come February you will only need the 2 Infinity Specialist Accreditations (ISA) to get to CCSM Elite.  We ask that you wait until February to get these as our system will not be looking for previous ISAs for this.

Reach out to me if you have any questions.

Thanks

Hi Jason,

unfortunately because of onboarding activities at my new employer, i was not able to join ISA trainings yet.
I want to attend VS Training 22/23 of March and Automation on 25/26 of March.
And i would like to try to pass the tests asap afterwards.

Will this extend my CCSM? 😇

Dear CP Expert,

I'm again trying to figure out how to renew my CCSM-E for another year.

I'm evaluating two different scenario:

1. take the CCES exam (this is one of the ISA that I didn't have any expertise on and I would like to learn).

2. take for the second time an ISA exam that I have already passed years ago (I not sure if this is possible with the new published rules).

Which option you suggest?

Best of all.
